Go green is a motto we often hear and try to abide by. In an ever-changing world, it is of utmost importance for all of us to reduce our carbon footprint and live sustainably. Diwali 2020 is different in so many ways – being away from family and not being able to spend time with loved ones is something I am still getting used to.

As a child, the best part about Diwali was spending time with family and eating all the special Diwali snacks- my favorite being the mouth-watering laddoos. Firecrackers are a big part of the celebration in India for kids and adults alike. As a 10 year old, I was also fascinated by the firecrackers and could never connect the dots between the firecrackers and the eerie smog that followed the morning after. When I made that connection was the last time I burst crackers.

This green Pure cotton saree with a zari border from Fabindia reminds me of simpler times, when we were not dealing with a pandemic that has taken hundreds and thousands of lives all over the world. This is a beautIful saree from my mother’s closet that I love draping for the simplicity and elegance it bears. I have always enjoyed sarees that are simple yet elegant. This saree is my go-to saree as it is very easy to drape and can be worn as a traditional look with temple jewelers or a chic modern look with oxidized jewelery.
